This weekend Riley, Gavin and I were visited by my bestest friend in the whole wide world. Christi and I have been best friends for 20+ years. She is really more like a sister to me and I couldn’t love her boys more if they truely were my nephews. Just so you don’t get confused I usually do refer to them as my nephews. Christi brought along her camera and we had big plans for Christmas pictures of the kids but the weather didn’t cooperate with us so no such luck this weekend. I did catch this shot off all of the kids together.
DJ, being a 16 year old boy, was very interested in the shooting that occurred this week at Fort Hood so I drove him by the SRC (soldier readiness center) where it took place. Driving by and seeing everything taped off, all of the military police vehicles outside and the workers, police officers and investigators walking in and out of the building made the incident seem so much more real. I still can’t believe that this happened. That 13 people lost their lives because of the actions of a fellow soldier, right here, at home, where we all feel so safe. Life will go on. It must or these people, these terrorists, they win. They will not win here. This community will pick up the pieces that this man left behind and we will move on but we will never forget.
